2011 LGH Foundation National Bank Duck Race
Quacking Success for the National Bank Duck Race!
The 2011 National Bank Duck Race, sponsored by the National Bank of Canada, was held on June 18th, 2011, at Valois Pool in Pointe-Claire.
The race was a sensational success! Thanks to the help of the community, sponsors, volunteers and many others, the LGH Foundation raised over $99,000 to purchase equipment for the Emergency Room at the Lakeshore General Hospital.
The winner of the race, who held the ticket corresponding to the first duck across the finish line, was Mr. Ronald Landry, who took full ownership of a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta courtesy of Volkswagen des Sources and The Charles Hammer Automotive Group. The next 3 ducks across the finish line won for their owners: a shopping spree at BCBG MAXAZRIA, a Guaranteed Investment Certificate courtesy of National Bank of Canada and a gift certificate courtesy of IGA Poirier.
Lakeshore Louis was on site to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the event along with CTV and their official mascot‘Jellybean’who kicked off the festivities with his ‘Jammin Summer Team’ with a host of inflatable games and prizes for everyone. Passers-by were also delighted by Jugo Juice’s fresh smoothies offered to them.
Congratulations to École Mont-Royal who raised the most funds for this year’s duck race amongst other participating schools.

Winter Migration!During the fall and winter months, the ducks are sent to their winter quarters where they can rest up for the next year’s race. Storage facilities are provided by A.M.J. Campbell Inc. in Lachine. The ducks are very grateful for their winter home and they always look forward to the start of the training season in early spring.
